The NHL season is here again and that can only mean one thing… the NHL.com Pun Headline writers are back with a vengeance!
God, how I've missed you.
After the season ended, the Pun Headline writing over at NHL.com continued into the summer and the pre-season… but as any hockey fan knows… how you play in the regular season is what counts. And by the looks of it, NHL.com is in mid-season form.
I can't even imagine what the headline writers' google searches for "finish" have turned up over the last few days.
Oh, I see. It's pronounced "Co-SURE."
I just thought that the NHL was a big fan of High Fashion.
Really feel like they missed an opportunity for a good pun here. A BIG opportunity.
I'm gonna let this one slide… but you've used this clever headline before. Anyone remember a little thing called the Olympics?
I'm always watching you, NHL.com. Don't ever forget that.
But with so many great moments happening all over the world during the first few days of the season… NHL.com seems a little preoccupied with the youth movement going on in Edmonton.
I would have gone with "Eberle Loses His V(ictory) Card"
After finishing at the bottom of the standings last season, you can't blame NHL.com for getting a little bit excited about the Oilers winning ways.
I mean, it's almost like this team never won 5 Stanley Cups.
Don't think that the pun chops just get flexed in the headline writing. Oh no, the puns extend to the small features on NHL.com as well.
That one's gonna get old real quick.
I'm not sure if that works.
When New York Rangers rookie, Derek Stepan, netted a hat trick in his NHL debut, perpetual pun bottom dweller FoxSports.com is hoping that it's done with re-building and ready to prove it can play with the elite pun teams.
Your move, NHL.com.
