TRH NATION: 5.7.13

Written by The Royal Half on .

It's been a fast and furious Round 1 for the Los Angeles Kings... so I want to make sure nothing is falling through the cracks in terms of your entertainment dollar here at The Royal Half. Don't forget, we are still writing GAMEDAY PREVIEWS exclusively at LAKings.com... so you can always check out our archive here

This is the kind of stuff you are missing out on.
Well, actually... no... this was from our article here.

And on Monday... a few hours before the LA Kings defeated the St. Louis Blues in the Game 4 of their series... I appeared on The War Room on SiriusXM's NHL Network to preview the the game. I've been on The War Room a few times and it's always fun... even if it's short.

And for the 4 of you that aren't on Twitter... our own Indiana Matt has been killing it with his now-patented Because It's The Cup Spoofs™. Here are the best of Round 1 so far:

And not to be outdone... Ironsight Design put together an amazing infographic at the start of the Kings-Blues series to help Jay Bouwmeester get accustomed to the NHL Playoffs.

TRH PLAYOFF RECAP GAME 4 - ST. LOUIS BLUES: BLUE IN THE FACE

Written by PumperNicholl on .

BUT RATHER PUMPERNICHOLL, OUR MASTER RECAPPER*

KINGS 4, BLUES 3

There's never a true consensus of how a fan base feels. No matter what day of the year, a small percentage will be content while the majority believes the sky is falling and all hope is lost.

I, for reasons unbeknownst to me, have been confident in this Kings team all year long. Losses didn't hurt, wins just meant one step closer to the the ultimate prize, and somehow that irrational belief has continued into the playoffs.

Enter Game 4 between the Los Angeles Kings and the St. Louis Blues.

Ah, Game 4s. The one Achilles heel the Lombardi Era Kings have. No, really. It's true.

Since this version of the Kings first made the playoffs in 2009-10, they have won only one Game 4 (last year against the Blues) in six chances. All while being outscored 21-12 in the process.

However these losses came against the Canucks (twice), Sharks, Coyotes and Devils, NOT against the Blues. Sure, the Blues jumped ahead in this series, but both wins came in flukey fashion. Though they completely deserved to win both games, I still wasn't scared of this team.

And based on how the Kings responded in Game 3, I don't think they are either.

Would the Game 4 curse continue to haunt the Kings? Or did they gain immunity versus Blues in this particular scenario? Let's see how it all unfolded in the fans' eyes during another raucous night in Los Angeles.

PREGAME:

OH, IT'S ON TONIGHT!

I guess it's really on?

OK IT'S ON!!!

Dad must be proud?

TRH PLAYOFF RECAP GAME 3 - ST. LOUIS BLUES: STAR WORST

Written by PumperNicholl on .

KINGS 1, BLUES 0

Heading into Game 3 against the St. Louis Blues, the Los Angeles Kings found themselves in an unfamiliar position. The team never trailed during its historic run to the Stanley Cup Final, and now were potentially going to be put on the brink of elimination.

Yet, I wasn't worried. I didn't think there was any way the Kings would lose the series, much less Game 3. Sure the Kings had scored only two goals in two games and hadn't managed to score a single goal at 5-on-5. That just meant things were going to open up soon.

That final prediction didn't come to fruition, but the Kings didn't disappoint their faithful weirdos fans.

PREGAME:

Still better than Kingston.

WHAT?! Kings fans cannot be serious, right?
RIGHT?!

Better strap in, folks. It's only going to get much, much worse from here on out. Grab your favorite fifth if you're going to be able to handle all of this talk about the fourth.

Oh, this really is going to get worse.

TRH PLAYOFF RECAP GAME 2 - ST. LOUIS BLUES: DEJA BLUES

Before a colossal mistake led to the St. Louis Blues being able to steal Game 1 of the series against the Los Angeles Kings, all eyes were fixated on Jonathan Quick. The stalwart netminder appeared to regain his 2012 form in the opening game against the Blues. And his stellar performance gave his team a fantastic chance to take one on the road before a mishandled puck gave Alex Steen cult status in the Midwest.

#NeverForget

Heading into the second game of the series, fans had some big questions:

1) Are the Kings going to respond to their offensive no-show in Game 1?
2) Could the Blues finally solve Quick?
3) Would anyone be able to watch the game in its entirety?

Short answer: No.

Regardless, onto the eerie foresight and general yelling at no one in particular!

PREGAME:
Fool me once...

This was Nick Nickson's original call for Jarret Stoll's game-winner against Vancouver.

Fool me twice...

C'mon gang, no way that happens again!

Apparently this is Midwest smack talk. I think we should be insulted.

I'm not sure you understand how puns work.

*sigh*

Only a bandwagoner would say that.

TRH PLAYOFF RECAP GAME 1 - ST. LOUIS BLUES: QUICK AND THE DEAD

JON QUICK, GAME WINNING ASSIST

*THE FOLLOWING BELOW IS NOT WRITTEN BY THE ROYAL HALF,

There's nothing quite like opening round playoff hockey in St. Louis on a Tuesday night. After years of toiling in mediocrity, the Blues have made it back to the playoffs for the second straight year and earned home-ice advantage against the defending Stanley Cup Champions.

It was the hardest ticket to get give away in town.

Blues fans are probably just tired of throwing their money away when the Kings come to town.

"I have to fucking work ballsac" might be the worst internship ever.

PLAYOFF PREVIEW PARTY - KNOW YOUR 1ST ROUND OPPONENT: ST. LOUIS BLUES

Written by The Royal Half on .

Brigitte from One Girl, One Puck is back with an all-St. Louis Blues Playoff Edition of her demented look at the LA Kings opponent... something we like to call "Know Your Opponent!" Now, Brigitte has taken on the St. Louis Blues before... but this time... it's personal. Take it away, Brigitte...

*THE FOLLOWING BELOW IS NOT WRITTEN BY THE ROYAL HALF, BUT RATHER A GUEST WRITER*

Let's talk about the Blues again shall we? I feel like I've made my mild dislike for the Blues known previously. I may have ever so subtly slipped that in one of my previous Know Your Opponent posts about them. The Blues are one of those teams where you think "Man I hear they're really good, but I don't actually know anything about them." Well guess what? I'm hear to help, like for real this time. Is there actual information located in this post? Maybe, if you actually don't know the whole roster. Since we'll be getting quite intimately acquainted with the Blues this next week or two, I've decided to take a look at some of the lesser known members of the team. (Take your pick on which one of these assholes we'll all hate by the end of the series)

He really is kind of tiny.

Ok, so people do talk about Sobotka a lot (cue Pierre McGuire's boner), but he's still not one of the Blues "stars". He's also pretty small, at least compared to some other guys on the team. Pretty sure the Kings could literally eat him alive...(insert Dustin Penner/Drew Doughty joke here)

He also looks like every kid in every 90s movie ever made.
