20 games into the 2011-2012 NHL season. And everybody has their thoughts on how the Los Angeles Kings have done so far. Some thought the Head Coach would be fired by now. Others thought everyone would be traded by now. Me? Well, the Los Angeles Kings are exactly where I'd thought they'd be after 20 games.

LA KINGS RECORD AFTER 20 GAMES IN EVENTUAL PLAYOFF SEASONS SINCE 1992-1993

1992-1993 12-6-2 - Stanley Cup Final

1997-1998 9-7-4 - Lost in 1st Round

1999-2000 12-4-4 - Lost in 1st Round

2000-2001 10-6-4 - Lost in 2nd Round

2001-2002 5-13-2 - Lost in 1st Round

2009-2010 11-7-2 - Lost in 1st Round

2010-2011 13-7-0 - Lost in 1st Round

What happens when you average out the LA Kings Win-Loss record over the 1st 20 games during seasons they went on to make the playoffs since 1992-1993? Well, thankfully it's only happened 7 of the last 19 years... so the math didn't take too long to calculate.

 W 10.2 - L 7.1 -  T/OTL 2.5

Well... with a current record of 10-7-3 after 20 games in the 2011-2012 NHL season... I'd say the LA Kings are exactly who we'd thought they be. A team that makes the 1st round of the playoffs and then loses.
