All That Glitters is Gold

Written by The Royal Half on .

It was Legends Night at Staples Center and after a week that already featured Canadian Pride Night and Dodgers Night... I started to think. Aren't promotions like this the kind of thing that is done by teams that are struggling to win and allientating their fans? Oh... wait.... nevermind. Bring on the Purple and Gold!

I think this girl didn't realize what jersey the Kings were wearing tonight.

And this guy was confused about which Kings legend was being honored.

And this guy was just confused.
Legends of Players That Banged Alyssa Milano Night is next  Thursday.

It's a great thrill watching the Los Angeles Kings play in purple and gold. I'm old enough to remember going to the Forum and seeing them play in those colors but if the Kings were really serious about doing a night that honored the past... they'd go all gold.

Now that is a uniform legends are made of.

And let's be honest, pulling off purple and gold as a professional athlete is a true test of one's manhood.

I don't know how to quit your line.

You can call Legends Night a total gimmick or a cash-grab for more money to be spent by fans... but come on, how cool did this look last night?

And even this looked good... even though it was so awful.

Well, there goes the Kings one bargaining chip in trade talks.

And this is what Jarret Stoll looks like from your vagina.

But Legends Night isn't about honoring one of the all-time winningest goalies that isn't in the Hall of Fame. No, it's about crazy jerseys from the opposing teams fans!

This guy is leaving because he thought it was
"Legends of the 92-93 Oilers That Are Still Playing in the NHL Night."

The Hall and Hemsky couple vs the Hall and Eberle couple.
Which one is the cuter couple?
Only JeanShortsandBaggedMilk knows.

This kid really, really wanted a Hall jersey for Christmas.
And he just loves Esa Tikkanen.

Any Ryan Smyth player shirt is awesome... but when the logo on front is the Todd McFarlane 3rd logo?
Genius.

These guys were just happy to be anywhere.

And who is one of the greatest Los Angeles Kings to ever don the Purple and Gold? Mr. Bernie Nicholls.

Whoops, wrong button.

And the man who trademarked the Pumpernickel was at Legends Night, live and in person.

Sadly, I was unable to re-create this amazing play in Los Angeles Kings hockey history...

Nicholls to Royal... GOALLLLLLLLL!!!!

So the Kings wrap up an 8 game homestand with only 2 rather unconvincing victories over the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Edmonton Oilers. 13 of the Kings next 16 games are on the road. Who cares?! This happened last night!!
