In the sport of ice hockey, the captain of the team is the person who speaks for the franchise... the person who meets with the press, who motivates the team in between periods and who tweets about the game from his smartphone while riding the bus back to the hotel to play video games with his teammates.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
Kings 4, Bruins 3
If Jon Quick was able to grow a mustache then he would have matched Thomas hair for hair.
Now, I know that there has been a lot of concern about the Los Angeles Kings defense and their inability to clear the front of the net the last few games... but this is just ridiculous.
"Drew? Greener? Peter?!? ANYONE?!?!? HELP!!!!"
Let's not forget that the Boston Bruins aren't having too shabby of a season themselves. So even though the Kings lost a 3-0 lead, they left with 2 points in their pocket against a tough team... but more importantly the Kings left Boston with the ability to make fun of their Captain.
As PuckDaddy pointed out... Dustin Brown's shootout fail was nearly 80 million dollars cheaper than Ilya Kovalchuk's one. And thankfully, Michal Handzus' shootout winner was the only Kings shootout take to get featured on the front page of NHL.com.
Boston Bruin, Shawn Thornton, who some people consider to be the best player of all time, has developed quite the fan following in Boston for his hard work and tough fists. He's also become quite well known for his gift of gab. Well, last night... the people spoke on Thornton's behalf... using handmade towels behind the Bruins bench.
Give Thornton A Rai$e
As Many Goals as Ilya Kovalchuk
More Wins than Manny Pacquiao
So the Kings head to Ottawa on Monday to play a team that has lost 3 in a row and besides that Swedish Captain guy... I can't really name anyone on it. So the Kings better show up for all 3 periods otherwise Coach Murray will be coming for you.
That's right. You.
As always, check out the awesome Days of Yorr for all your Boston Bruins photoshops and Somethings Bruin for your complete coverage of hockey in New England. You can also check out a Question and Answer I did with Sarah at Somethings Bruin in which I learned that apparently there is an Eastern Conference in the NHL.
